Cardinal Health names new chairman
Cardinal Health has announced that president and chief executive officer of the firm R Kerry Clark will be appointed chairman of the company following its annual shareholder meeting in November.
Mr Clark will replace Cardinal Health founder Robert D Walter in the position, with Mr Walter opting to retire from his post following 36 years of service
Remaining as an executive director until the end of June next year, Mr Walter will thereafter retire completely from the firm, while retaining his position on the board.
Mr Clark joined Cardinal Health in April 2006 and since that time has been involved in the acquisition of several firms and a number of organisation transformations to boost the performance of the company.
John B McCoy, presiding director of the board, said: “Bob has worked closely with the board for many years to plan for his succession.
“We are grateful for his many years of service to Cardinal Health shareholders and are pleased with the direction Kerry is leading the company.”
He added that Mr Clark would build upon robust foundations and enhance value for shareholders, employees and consumers in the long term.
In May 2007, Cardinal Health appointed Jim Hinrichs to the position of executive vice-president and controller, while also naming Stuart G Laws as vice-president and chief accounting officer of the company.
