CareFusion launches new medication management solutions
CareFusion is launching multiple new technologies across its device and software platforms to help improve the safety, efficiency and cost of intravenous (IV) medications.
Designed to enhance enterprise-wide medication management, the company is introducing a new Pyxis IV system to provide enhanced workflows and a more efficient process for compounding IVs. Meanwhile, the Alaris brand of infusion devices will be enhanced to offer interoperability with electronic health record systems.
Other new offerings include the Alaris Infusion Viewer for Charge Capture and Chemo Safety System, a needle-free closed system transfer device.
These will be complemented by CareFusion SmartWorks, an enterprise-platform for CareFusion technologies that helps to standardise interoperability between devices and healthcare information technology systems.
Tom Leonard, president of medical systems for CareFusion, said: "Our strategy is to provide not only the devices that help improve patient safety, but the software that provides critical insight into how those devices are being used."
Last month, the company expanded its range of offerings through the acquisition of Vital Signs, a leading manufacturer of respiratory care and anaesthesiology consumables formerly owned by GE Healthcare.
