Carestream Dental expands CS Solutions for Orthodontics portfolio

Carestream Dental has announced the launch of a number of new additions to its CS Solutions for Orthodontics portfolio.

The main addition is the compact new CS 8100SC 3D extraoral imaging system, which combines powerful 2D and cephalometric imaging with high-quality and low-dose cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging and 3D model scanning applications.

It offers the fastest scan time of any scanning cephalometric unit on the market, working in as little as three seconds, while its software recognises anatomical structures and traces them automatically.

Matt Hendrickson, director of orthodontics at Carestream Dental, said: "This new system combines several different imaging solutions – panoramic, cephalometric, CBCT and model scanning – into one efficient, space-saving system."

Additionally, the firm is launching a pair of additional software modules – CS Model Plus, an automated solution for generating digital impressions, and the airway evaluation and analysis tool CS Airway.

The firm also revealed that its CS 3600 intraoral scanner has been validated by several third-party orthodontic companies, including 3M, Ormco, CA Digital and Image Instruments.
