Carestream Dental’s CS 3500 shows superior performance in new study

14th November 2016

Carestream Dental has announced the findings of a new study showing the superior performance offered by its CS 3500 intraoral scanner.

The study evaluated four intraoral scanners, including the CS 3500, by scanning two study models – one partially edentulous with three analogues, one completely edentulous with six analogues. Each scanner scanned each model five times, for a total of 40 datasets.

It was shown that the CS 3500 proved scientifically superior in general trueness and precision, offering a significantly better performance than two of the rival intraoral scanners assessed in the trial.

Trueness measures how closely the scanner replicates the teeth being scanned, while precision refers to how consistently the scanner produces accurate results. Carestream Dental's device has shown its strong performance on both metrics.

Ed Shellard, vice-president for sales and marketing at Carestream Dental, said: "We've always been proud of the CS 3500's performance, so we're pleased to see this study confirms what we've long known to be true."

The system won a bronze award at last year's Edison Awards, recognising the innovation, creativity and ingenuity in its design.
