Carestream Dental’s CS 3600 scanner demonstrates accuracy in new study
Carestream Dental has highlighted the findings of a new study that demonstrates the accurate performance of its CS 3600 intraoral scanner.
Published in BioMed Central Oral Health, the report compared the performance of four different devices, finding that the CS 3600 performed best in trueness, while no significant differences were found between the four scanners in regards to precision.
Trueness was defined as the ability of a measurement to match the actual value of the quantity being measured, while assessments of precision gauged each scanner's ability to deliver consistently repeatable results.
Two gypsum testing models – one partially edentulous with three implant analogues and one fully edentulous with six implant analogues – were scanned with a laboratory-grade scanner, before each one was scanned five times by the four scanners being assessed.
Because the CS 3600 captured the truest scans the researchers stated that it should be considered the preferred option in clinical settings.
Ed Shellard, sales and marketing vice-president at Carestream Dental, said: "We are excited to hear that our CS 3600 intraoral scanner came in first in trueness, and that the study also found that all four scanners offered similar results in precision."
