Celgene appoints new UK and Ireland medical director

9th January 2012

Celgene has announced the appointment of Dr David Gillen as its new medical director for the UK and Ireland.

Dr Gillen, a former NHS physician, was previously the UK medical director of Pfizer and has extensive experience of pharmaceutical industry affairs, as well as close links to the British medical community.

He joins Celgene from Gilead Sciences, where he has occupied the role of head of international medical affairs since 2010.

The medical expert has served on Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry, National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence and UK Clinical Research Collaboration committees, and is dedicated to fostering closer ties between the industry, NHS and academia.

"This is a very exciting time as Celgene's portfolio expands and I can't wait to build on the excellent work that's already being undertaken," said Dr Gillen.

Last month, the company appointed Richard Bagger as senior vice-president for corporate affairs and strategic market access, a role he will take on at the end of this month.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801258502-ADNFCR
