Celgene names new CEO amid leadership revamp
Celgene has announced a number of key changes to its leadership team, including the appointment of Mark Alles as chief executive officer (CEO).
The current president and chief operating officer of Celgene will be promoted to the top position on March 1st 2016, having played a key role in driving the company's growth since joining in 2004.
Incumbent chairman and CEO Bob Hugin will take on the role of executive chairman from this date and will continue to lead the board of directors, as well as helping to manage the strategic direction of the company.
Additionally, chief financial officer Dr Jacqualyn Fouse will be promoted to president and chief operating officer, with immunology and inflammation president Scott Smith taking on an expanded leadership role as chair of Celgene's global management committee.
Mr Hugin said: "Mark's, Jackie's and Scott's wealth of industry and company experience, judgement and strategic vision are invaluable as we continue to lead the company into the future."
Celgene is expecting to achieve a 17 percent year-on-year increase in net product sales during the coming 2016 business year.
