Celgene names new member of board of directors
Celgene has announced the appointment of medical industry professional John Weiland as the newest member of its board of directors.
Mr Weiland boasts more than 30 years in the healthcare industry, serving most recently as the president and chief operating officer of CR Bard, with worldwide responsibility for all of business operations prior to Bard's acquisition by BD in December 2017.
Prior to joining Bard in 1996, he rose through numerous managerial positions for multinational healthcare businesses such as Baxter, Pharmacia Diagnostics and Dentsply International.
In addition to these professional activities, Mr Weiland takes an active role in civic affairs, and was named a US White House Fellow in 1987, while serving as a special assistant to the cabinet of president Ronald Reagan.
