Cephalon appoints new board member

Cephalon has appointed molecular and clinical cardiology authority Dr Charles Homcy to its board of directors.

Dr Homcy, the current co-chairman of Portola Pharmaceuticals, took up the position on Cephalon's board on March 10th 2011 and will bring extensive industry experience to the company.

His previous roles include that of president and chief executive officer of Portola between 2003 and 2010, while he has also served in executive positions at COR Therapeutics and Millennium Pharmaceuticals.

In addition, Dr Homcy has been a member of the editorial boards of a number of the leading scientific cardiovascular journals and has authored more than 135 original publications.

William Egan, chairman of Cephalon's board, said: "Dr Homcy's broad scientific, clinical and operational expertise will be invaluable to us as we develop our rich pipeline and continue to expand our business."
