2nd November 2007

Cephalon has appointed Valli F Baldassano as its new executive vice president and chief compliance officer.

Ms Baldassano will report to the chairman and chief executive officer Frank Baldino Jr with additional dotted line reporting to the audit committee of the board of directors.

With 21 years of legal experience and a strong background in fraud and compliance matters, Mr Baldino said that she would bring a “unique perspective” on compliance issues.

“We are pleased to have her guide us through this increasingly challenging regulatory environment.”

He added that the decision to make the chief compliance officer position an executive officer highlighted how important compliance was within the organisation.

Ms Baldassano most recently served as a partner with law firm Fox Rothschild LLP where she was a member of the litigation department.

However, her corporate law experience includes eight years in the pharmaceutical industry with posts at Schering-Plough and the former Pharmacia.
