Cephalon names new chief executive officer

29th December 2010

Cephalon has announced the appointment of J Kevin Buchi as its new permanent chief executive officer, taking over the role of the late Dr Frank Baldino Jr.

Mr Buchi, who has worked for the company for almost 20 years, has been confirmed in the position after assuming chief executive responsibilities in August 2010 during company founder Dr Baldino's medical leave of absence.

His appointment comes after Dr Baldino passed away earlier this month at the age of 57 from complications associated with leukaemia.

Mr Buchi, who will also become a member of the company's board, will bring extensive experience to the role, having previously served as chief operating officer and chief financial officer for Cephalon.

He has also been credited with working closely with Dr Baldino to create the strategic path that has defined the company since its creation in 1987.

William Egan, Cephalon's independent presiding director, said: "He is the clear choice to lead our company."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800314411-ADNFCR
