Ceva launches new pheromone product Feliscratch by Feliway
Ceva has announced the launch of Feliscratch by Feliway, a cat behavioural control product that helps to prevent animals from scratching household furniture.
The pheromone product is a synthetic copy of a feline interdigital semiochemical naturally produced by cats, and is the only product clinically proven to help redirect scratching behaviour on to a desired location.
It helps to control both vertical and horizontal scratching, as well as inappropriate scratching with newly adopted cats or kittens, and complements the benefits offered by the existing Feliway Classic and Feliway Friends products.
A blue staining agent mimics the visual information conveyed by scratch marks, with catnip attracting the cat to the scratching post and the pheromone directing scratching towards the surface where the product has been applied.
Claire Russell, pheromone product manager at Ceva Animal Health, said: "Feliscratch by Feliway can help redirect scratching onto a desired location, such as a scratching post, and can be used in conjunction with Feliway Classic and Feliway Friends to help prevent other stress-related behaviours."
A Ceva survey indicates that 56 per cent of owners experience the problem of scratching in their household, making it the number one unwanted behaviour seen in cats.
