Change4Life launches food tracker app in multi-agency campaign

9th January 2017

Change4Life has launched a new food tracker app as part of its annual push to encourage healthy lifestyles during the post-Christmas period.

The new campaign aims to help parents keep an eye on their children's dietary intake using an app that shows the amount of sugar, fat and salt consumed in a visually accessible format, reports Campaign.

Users can scan food or drink items to get an at-a-glance look at their health content, making use of traffic light labelling. It can currently scan 114,000 products, using data from Broadbank and FoodSwitch, plus information from manufacturers and retailers.

Freud Communications is handling PR for the initiative, with M&C Saatchi handling creative duties and MEC handling media. The Be Food Smart app itself was developed by Dogfish.

A total of 6.3 million pounds has been spent on this campaign, which is supported by outdoor advertisements, social media, experiential events in schools and app installation ads. It marks the third Public Health England campaign to be launched this week.
