Chugai establishes Academy for Advanced Oncology

1st October 2009

Chugai has opened a new base – the Chugai Academy for Advanced Oncology (CHAAO) – which will see the group boosting its efforts to contribute to the development of cancer treatments.

The aims of the firm upon the inauguration of the centre include improving the relationship between cancer specialists across the world and healthcare professionals working to treat the disease.

Improving the range of treatments available and raising awareness of the condition among patients are also some of Chugai’s objectives.

“We feel that as a general incorporated association, this academy can contribute to the development of the cancer treatment infrastructure […] as well as to the future advancement of cancer treatment,” the organisation stated.

This news comes after the announcement that Chugai’s anti-cancer treatment Xeloda and a variant of its human monoclonal antibody Avastin received approval from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.
