Church and Dwight exceeds expectations in third quarter of 2016

4th November 2016

Church and Dwight has announced its financial results for the third quarter of 2016, during which it delivered a net sales total of $870.7 million (694.02 million pounds).

This represented a year-on-year increase of one percent on a reported basis, or 1.2 percent in organic terms. Meanwhile, its earnings rose by 4.4 percent to $0.47 per share, exceeding the company's previously-stated outlook.

A strong performance from the firm's consumer products business helped to offset the relative weakness of its specialty products unit, with brands such as Batiste, Arm and Hammer, Oxiclean and Trojan driving this momentum.

Product sales through online retailers continued to be strong, with web-based vitamin and litter sales more than doubling compared to last year, while four of its ten powerbrands gained share in measured channels.

The company is now predicting net reported and organic sales growth of between one and two percent for the final quarter of the year.

Matthew Farrell, president and chief executive officer, said: "We are positioned to continue to deliver strong sales and earnings growth with our balanced portfolio of value and premium products, the launch of innovative new products, aggressive productivity programs and tight management of overhead costs."
