Church and Dwight highlights strong financial performance in 2016
Church and Dwight has announced its financial results for 2016, during which it generated an annual sales total of $3.49 billion (2.79 billion pounds).
This represented a year-on-year increase of 2.9 percent, with organic sales up by 3.2 percent thanks in large part to the strong performance of the company's consumer products business.
Rising demand for products such as its Batiste dry shampoo, Oxiclean additives, and Vitafusion and L'il Critters gummy vitamins helped the firm to close out the year with an encouraging fourth quarter performance that exceeded expectations.
Other 2016 highlights included double-digit international organic sales growth, as well as the overcoming of a year-long cyclical weakness in its specialty products business. A seven percent increase in the company's regular quarterly dividend has been announced.
Reported and organic sales growth of approximately three percent are expected in 2017, spurred by the introduction of several new products.
Matthew Farrell, chief executive officer of Church and Dwight, said: "We believe 2017 will be an exciting year for Church and Dwight based on our continued focus on innovation and confidence in gross margin expansion."
