Coca-Cola, Nestle to take part in obesity campaign

Coca-Cola and Nestle are among several international firms taking part in the government’s new campaign to tackle obesity.

The Change4Life programme will include television adverts promoting exercise and healthy eating, which will launch tomorrow (Saturday).

Commenting on the initiative, public health minister Dawn Primarolo was quoted by the BBC as saying: "The message at the heart of the Change4Life campaign is that there are very serious health consequences associated with allowing dangerous amounts of fat to build up in our bodies."

Supermarkets in the UK will be joining Coca-Cola and Nestle in the campaign.

By 2050, some 90 per cent of today’s children will be classed as obese or overweight, recent data has predicted.

The purchase of Santa Barbara Mineral Springs and some of its assets – announced last month – will expand Nestle’s mineral water production in Sao Paulo, which is the country’s top market in the segment.
