Cohn and Wolfe hired to support ZTE’s global expansion efforts
Cohn and Wolfe has been handed a new global PR contract by ZTE, China's largest listed telecoms vendor.
The contract is valued at up to $1 million (813,690 pounds) and covers global strategy and corporate activity, business-to-business and business-to-consumer media, and analyst relations, according to the Holmes Report.
ZTE is looking to strengthen its PR capabilities across Asia and Europe, as it has identified these regions as prime targets for substantial expansion. The firm has stepped up its international marketing investment in recent years to establish itself as a global brand.
Its current global growth strategy is focused on mobile Internet of Things technology, with the firm achieving a 9.3 percent year-on-year increase in profits during the first half of 2016 thanks in large part to China's adoption of 4G.
This win extends ZTE's existing remit with Cohn and Wolfe's tech brand Axicom in Europe, while the company's mobile devices division – which includes handsets – will continue to work with WE Communications across the Europe, Middle East and Africa and Asia-Pacific regions.
The firm is understood to have recently extended this contract for a third year.
