Colgate-Palmolive licenses oral health technology from Klox
Colgate-Palmolive has agreed a new worldwide licensing deal for oral health products developed by Klox Technologies.
The agreement will see Colgate globally commercialise and develop Klox's human oral health technology platform, including its proprietary biophotonic technology, while also making an equity investment in the specialty pharmaceutical company.
Though Klox's business is focused on developing and commercialising biophotonics-based products to address skin and soft tissue disorders, its work also has applications in the fields of oral health and wound care.
As a leader in oral care with activities in more than 200 countries, Colgate-Palmolive's global scope will serve to bring the benefits of this new technology to more patients and customers worldwide.
Suzan Harrison, president of global oral care at Colgate, said: "We are very pleased to have Klox as a partner in the development of this exciting and new technology platform for the benefit of oral health."
Colgate commands a 44.7 percent share of the global toothpaste market and controls 34.7 percent of global manual toothbrush sales, with both percentages increasing in 2015.
