Colgate-Palmolive reports year-on-year growth during Q3 2017

31st October 2017

Colgate-Palmolive has announced its financial results for the third quarter of 2017, during which it delivered a net sales total of $3.97 billion (2.99 billion pounds).

This represents a year-on-year increase of three percent, consisting of a 1.5 percent global unit volume increase and a 1.5 percent positive impact from foreign exchange trends. On an organic basis, the firm achieved a growth rate of 1.5 percent compared to Q3 2016.

Strong performances in Latin America and Europe helped to offset the more muted results generated in North America, Asia and Africa, with increased spending on advertising delivering tangible bottom-line benefits.

Its leadership of the global toothpaste market continued, with Colgate's market share hitting 43.5 per cent for the year to date, while in the manual toothbrushes category the corresponding figure was 32.6 percent.

Based on current trends, the firm continues to expect a low-single-digit net sales increase and low-single-digit organic sales growth for the full year.

Ian Cook, chairman, president and chief executive officer at Colgate-Palmolive, said: "We are pleased that our stepped-up advertising investment is indeed contributing to the acceleration of topline growth worldwide."
