Convatec wins award for Flexi-Seal FMS device

23rd November 2010

Convatec has been presented with a Nursing Times Product Award in recognition of the quality of its Flexi-Seal Faecal Management System (FMS) offering.

The device earned the company the platinum award for continence and stoma care at the publication's inaugural award ceremony, which recently took place in London and was voted on by a panel of industry experts.

Convatec's Flexi-Seal system is designed to assist immobilised and incontinent patients by diverting faecal matter away from wounds, thereby reducing the risk of contamination and infection.

It is indicated for those with little or no bowel control and can be used for up to 29 consecutive days.

A member of the judging panel said: "This company has really taken on board feedback from nurses and product development. The product ticks all boxes regarding quality, innovation, productivity and prevention as well as significant potential cost savings."

In August 2010, Convatec was granted EU authorisation for its Vitala Continence Control Device to be utilised in conjunction with a convex skin barrier for up to 12 hours a day.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800251279-ADNFCR
