Cook Medical introduces new VUR treatment device

25th March 2010

Cook Medical has launched a new device specified for the treatment of paediatric patients suffering from vesicoureteral reflux (VUR).

The new Injekt VUR Injection Needle is an endoscopic treatment designed specifically for the treatment of VUR, a condition relating to defective valves inside a child’s urinary system.

It has been optimised to allow for precise administration through strategically-positioned etch markings and can be implemented using either a subureteric transurethral injection or hydrodistention implantation technique.

The firm states that these elements allow for a fast, minimally-invasive procedure with a high correctional success rate.

Nicky James, vice-president and global business leader for Cook’s urology division, added: “Cook Medical is dedicated to the development and delivery of new medical technologies such as the Injekt VUR Injection Needle to improve patient outcomes and control the costs of treatment.”

Last week, the company revealed a new NavAlign femoral delivery system which allows inferior vena cava filters to be placed with minimal blood loss and vessel trauma.
