Cook Medical launches otolaryngology/head and neck surgery division
Cook Medical has established a new otolaryngology/head and neck surgery (OHNS) clinical division, a move that will bring its products to new patient demographics.
The company unveiled the division at the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery congress in Washington, alongside a selection of current and upcoming products.
Its portfolio will include the Biodesign dural advanced tissue graft, Hercules 3 Stage Wire Guided Balloon and the Chiba EchoTip Biopsy Needle, as well as various salivary duct access tools and stone extractor sets.
By researching and developing alternatives to open surgery for treating conditions across several traditional ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialties, Cook will be able to meet demands for specialised minimally invasive devices in otolaryngology.
Thomas Cherry, global leader for Cook Medical's OHNS division, said: "Cook OHNS is taking proven interventional tools and techniques and applying them to the emerging science of minimally invasive otolaryngology and head and neck surgery."
Last month, the company reported positive data from a clinical study of Zilver PTX, its line of paclitaxel-eluting peripheral vascular stents.
