Cook Medical opens Innovation Centre in Limerick

18th November 2013

Cook Medical has announced the official launch of its new Innovation Centre in Ireland, a move that will create new jobs in the region and expand the company's research capabilities.

The state-of-the-art research and development site has been created using an investment of ten million euros (8.38 million pounds), with the support of the country's department of jobs, enterprise and innovation via IDA Ireland.

Featuring expanded cleanrooms, packaging, storage and other facilities, it will further Cook Medical's efforts to develop new peripheral vascular, gastroenterology and urology devices by facilitating collaboration and product testing.

The Limerick site has taken on 100 extra staff members in the past two years, with the opening of the new facility likely to create further opportunities in future.

Bill Doherty, European vice-president of Cook Medical, said: "We are looking forward to welcoming doctors and surgeons from across Europe and further afield as we work towards creating much-needed innovative devices for patients throughout the world."

This comes after Cook Medical announced the appointment of Pete Yonkman as its new president last week.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801662048-ADNFCR
