Cook Medical provides grant to Indiana Biosciences Research Institute

Cook Medical has provided a research grant of $1 million (825,700 pounds) to the Indiana Biosciences Research Institute (IBRI).

The donation is to be matched by a contribution from the Lilly Endowment and will be used to support IBRI's next phase of growth. The institute is dedicated to discovery science and applied research, with a focus on cardiometabolic disease, diabetes and poor nutrition.

Cook Medical joins life science companies such as Dow AgroSciences, Lilly and Roche Diagnostics as institute founders and scientific advisory board members, with other founders also including the state of Indiana, Lilly Endowment, Indiana University Health and the Indiana University School of Medicine.

IBRI was established in 2013 to operate as an independent research institute, dedicated to attracting top entrepreneurial researchers pursuing breakthrough science and innovation.

It is working with philanthropic, academic and industry partners to ensure its discoveries can be efficiently translated into viable new products for use by patients.
