Cook Medical to create new research jobs in Limerick

9th January 2012

Cook Medical has announced plans to create new research and development jobs in Ireland via a fresh investment into its Limerick site.

Taking advantage of government support through IDA Ireland, the medical technology firm will invest 16.5 million euros (13.62 million pounds) over four years to create a variety of highly skilled positions.

This new investment will aim to help create a new state-of-the-art research and development laboratory at the growing Limerick site, promoting improved collaboration with clinicians while developing anatomical models for product testing.

It is also intended to establish Cook Ireland as a leading global designer of self-expanding stents and delivery devices.

Bill Doherty, Cook Medical's executive vice-president for the EMEA region, said: "This latest investment will help to future-proof Cook Medical's commitment to Ireland, enabling us to lead the development of the next generation of medical devices and continue the improvement of patient outcomes."

Last month, the company announced a new agreement with supply contracting company Novation, pertaining to the provision of central venous catheters to hospitals across the US.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801259066-ADNFCR
