Corin and Mako agree new distribution deal

24th March 2011

Corin is to expand the global reach of its products via a new five-year distribution agreement with fellow medical device manufacturer Mako.

The deal will see Corin provide a hip implant system – which incorporates its MetaFix hip device and the Trinity acetabular shell – for use with Mako's Rio robotic arm interactive orthopaedic unit.

Mako plans to introduce this new offering in the US later this year, subject to regulatory approval, while it may also integrate other Corin implant systems in future under the terms of the arrangement.

According to Corin, this deal will increase the profile of its brands and innovations, as well as provide clinicians with new solutions that increase surgical accuracy and care quality.

Andy Sutcliffe, the firm's group marketing director, added: "It also builds on the significant investment we have made in our product development programme, linking responsible innovation with the benefits of high-technology surgical implantation."

This comes in the same week that Corin published its 2010 financial results, reporting a ten percent year-on-year sales growth to a total of 44.8 million pounds.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800474931-ADNFCR
