Covidien appoints new corporate communications head

Covidien has announced that Jacqueline Strayer, formerly of Johnson Controls, has joined the company as its new senior vice-president for corporate communications.

In her new role, she will be responsible for leading Covidien's global communications strategies on an internal and external basis, including functions such as corporate marketing, PR, media relations, financial communications, issues management and philanthropy.

She was previously employed as vice-president for corporate communications at Johnson Controls and can also list Arrow Electronics, United Technologies, GE Capital and Mercer among her past employers.

Jose Almeida, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Covidien, said: "Jacqueline brings strong global leadership and strategic communications experience to Covidien. She has an impressive track record of accomplishments and we are delighted to have her join the Covidien leadership team."

Last month, the company announced its financial results for the second quarter of its current business year, a period that saw Covidien experience a five percent year-on-year increase in net sales.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801584008-ADNFCR
