Covidien launches ForceTriad remote control system

21st April 2011

Covidien has announced the launch of a new remote operating system for its ForceTriad surgical energy platform.

The software application is designed to allow all new and existing ForceTriad platforms to be integrated into operating room systems such as the Karl Storz OR1 and Olympus Endoalpha, bringing multiple functions together in a seamless unit.

It can be downloaded to current platforms via the Valleylab Exchange software update system and is initially being released in Europe, before coming to other territories at later dates.

Chuck Allen, director of global marketing for energy-based devices at Covidien, said: "This product shows the commitment of Covidien to develop technical innovation and work with strong global partners to deliver economical solutions to healthcare practitioners and patients."

Earlier this month, the company published data from a clinical study of its SILS Port surgical equipment, which demonstrated the effectiveness of the device in improving the cosmetic results of gall bladder removal surgery.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800509319-ADNFCR
