Covidien launches Sandman Alliance
Covidien has announced the launch of Sandman Alliance, which it describes as a “first-of-its-kind” sleep therapy management programme.
The company states the resource is the newest addition its Unite to Treat Sleep Apnoea initiative aimed at improving the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders.
Covidien explains the scheme involves work with patients, home care providers and clinicians as part of their efforts to treat obstructive sleep apnoea and a range of other conditions.
It links a counsellor with each patient in order to track the patient’s therapy and record progress using an internet interface which provides an area for the sleep physician to log in and monitor performance under the programme.
Covidien has supported this offering by partnering Assist Management.
Kevin Mongonia, president of Assist Management, states one of the biggest problems with sleep therapy is getting those receiving the treatment to comply with the plans.
Dr Veronique Grillier-Lanoir, Covidien’s global medical affairs director for sleep and oxygen, adds: “This support programme, in conjunction with a comprehensive offering of innovative sleep therapy and diagnostics products, demonstrates Covidien’s dedication to improving patient outcomes.”
In recent days, the company announced the launch of the Versaport Plus Bladeless Trocar line.
