CryoLife’s HeRO Graft receives first European implant

31st July 2013

CryoLife has announced the first European clinical implant of its HeRO (Haemodialysis Reliable Outflow) Graft following its CE Mark approval in June 2013.

The procedure was performed at the University of Leuven Hospital in Belgium by vascular surgeon Professor Inge Fourneau and interventional radiologist Professor Sam Heye, both of whom praised the innovative benefits of the device.

It has been designed to reduce the rate of infection compared to tunneled dialysis catheters and improve patient quality of life, with a controlled market launch of the graft planned for the second half of 2013, followed by a broader European rollout next year.

Steven Anderson, chairman, president and chief executive officer of CryoLife, said: "We continue to believe the HeRO Graft represents a significant opportunity to provide a better dialysis access option for patients with end-stage renal disease and that it will be a growth driver for the company."

Last week, the firm announced its financial results for the first half of 2013, during which it achieved a record-breaking revenue total of $69.1 million (45.61 million pounds).ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801619175-ADNFCR
