Daiichi Sankyo appoints European chief financial officer

12th September 2012

Daiichi Sankyo has announced the appointment of Martin Hesse as its new chief financial officer (CFO), effective as of October 1st 2012.

Mr Hesse was most recently employed by Bayer HealthCare, where he served in a number of senior roles during a career with the company stretching back to 1984, reports PMLiVE.

He has been appointed as the successor to Max Schoner, who will retire from Daiichi Sankyo at the end of the year after spending 12 years in the CFO role.

Once appointed as CFO, Mr Hesse will be tasked with helping the company to secure greater profitability and competitiveness, while managing the impact of new laws on drug pricing.

Daiichi Sankyo Europe's chief executive officer Reinhard Bauer said: "Daiichi Sankyo Europe is playing an increasingly important role within the group. It will be a major contributor in our effort to generate the bigger part of our group sales outside Japan."

Last month, the company announced phase III clinical trial data from a study of its Inavir Dry Powder Inhaler therapy for influenza prevention.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801447394-ADNFCR
