Dako and Omnyx ally on breast cancer diagnostics

2nd September 2013

Dako has announced a new breast cancer diagnostics alliance with digital pathology leader Omnyx, a joint venture of GE Healthcare and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

The companies are launching a clinical image analysis service for digital pathology in Europe, providing quantitative results for HercepTests that will help pathologists to generate accurate, objective and reproducible diagnostic results.

Omnyx and Dako have been working collaboratively since 2010, with Dako helping to develop algorithms that are incorporated into the Omnyx digital pathology platform.

Digital pathology improves lab productivity by providing a virtual means of reviewing tissue sections without any need for handling traditional glass slides, while also offering multipurpose digital image analysis tools.

Jakob Mohr Christensen, vice-president of global marketing at Dako, said: "Dako is committed to continually improving patient care by finding ways to further enhance the standards and accuracy in cancer diagnostics."

The firm is a global leader in tissue-based cancer diagnostics and was acquired by Agilent Technologies in June 2012.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801632588-ADNFCR
