Dako’s HER2 IQFISH pharmDx Kit shows benefits in white paper

Dako has highlighted positive findings from a new white paper that underlines the numerous advantages customers can experience by using its HER2 IQFISH pharmDx kit.

The white paper by ProPath Services compared Dako's offering to a rival product from another leading manufacturer, revealing the Dako product delivered better overall quality, defined by a better signal-to-background ratio that enabled more accurate determination of copy numbers.

Moreover, the HER2 IQFISH pharmDx kit saved 30 to 60 minutes of hands-on time per slide and reduced time required by the pathologist for reading and scoring, while also cutting costs by requiring fewer slide repeats.

Finally, the study revealed that the short turnaround time associated with Dako's offering resulted in almost three times more diagnoses reported within a day or less. This study therefore offers proof of how the kit can greatly accelerate cancer diagnostic processes.

The manufacturer said: "HER2 IQFISH pharmDx can quantitatively determine HER2 gene amplification in the tumour, allowing oncologists to prescribe potentially life-saving therapies to patients quickly and effectively."

This comes after an independent French multicentre study published in the Journal of Histopathology earlier this year showed how the tool was able to facilitate the diagnosis of breast cancer.
