Danone announces global partnership with Ellen MacArthur Foundation
Danone has announced a new sustainability-focused global partnership with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation.
The company has become the foundation's ninth global partner and will work with the charity on a three-year partnership to support a transition towards a circular economy, cooperating with other businesses, government bodies and academia.
Whereas conventional supply chains have been linear, with the utilisation of resources often ending in the creation of refuse sent to landfill, a circular economical model is restorative and regenerative by design.
Danone will strive to embed circular economy principles both inside and outside the company, with a focus on producing high-quality products that preserve natural resource cycles.
Its teams will gain access to education and training through the Ellen MacArthur Foundation to transition brands towards the new model, with a particular focus on creating a more sustainable usage model for plastics.
Pascal De Petrini, Danone's executive vice-president of strategic resource cycles, said: "Over the past years, we have been transforming our approach, and are convinced that systemic change is key to foster sustainable business growth and preserve natural resource cycles."
