Danone names new lead independent director
Danone has announced the nomination of Michel Landel as its new lead independent director.
Following a meeting of the firm's board of directors, Danone will request its shareholders to approve the appointment of Mr Landel as a board member at its shareholders' meeting in April. If elected, he would also become lead independent director and chairman of Danone's nomination and remuneration committee.
Currently, Mr Landel is the chief executive officer and chairman of global service leader Sodexo, and has helped the firm to become a world leader in quality of life services, making him one of the industry's most respected business leaders.
He will step down at the next Sodexo shareholders' meeting in January 2018, paving the way for his new role with Danone.
A company statement said: "Michel Landel will bring to the board his extensive experience and expertise in the international consumer business environment and in change management."
This comes after the firm's chief executive Emmanuel Faber took on the additional role of chairman earlier this month.
