Dentsply Sirona agrees takeover of Healthdent Technologies

Dentsply Sirona has announced the acquisition of the US-based dental technology business Healthdent Technologies.

Healthdent is a market leader in the gutta-percha formulation segment, offering high-precision injection moulding of gutta-percha master cones that are compatible with shapes created by multi-tapered file systems.

Its products offer consistently more accurate dimensions than conventional gutta-percha cones, as well as lower melt temperatures and ideal flow characteristics to enhance performance in warm obturation techniques.

The firm has been supplying Dentsply Sirona with gutta-percha master cones for the ProTaper Gold and WaveOne Gold file systems worldwide, in addition to ProTaper Next and TRUshape file systems in North America.

It is expected that the purchase of Healthdent will complement Dentsply Sirona's existing range of nickel-titanium root canal preparation file systems.
