Dentsply Sirona launches new GuttaCore obturators for WaveOne file system

Dentsply Sirona's endodontics business has announced the launch of its new GuttaCore obturators, designed for use with the WaveOne Gold reciprocating file system.

Designed to bring together the benefits and predictability of WaveOne Gold canal shaping with the three-dimensional fill of GuttaCore, the new obturators are sized and colour-coded to precisely match the specifications of the WaveOne Gold system.

It means that clinicians will be able to effectively obturate challenging cases using the same technique with the ease of a single insertion, with other benefits including optimised canal preparation prior to shaping, a crosslinked gutta-percha core that adheres to the canal's natural anatomy, and an efficient technique that minimises time spent in the chair.

The company said it has been able to "combine two proven systems to create a convenient, single-system solution with the introduction of its new GuttaCore for WaveOne Gold system".

A 2014 study previously demonstrated that GuttaCore offers significant benefits compared to other techniques in achieving a complete fill throughout the canal system, as well as delivering the highest gutta-percha content – with fewer apical and coronal voids – than cold lateral techniques.
