Dentsply Sirona names new chief executive officer

Dentsply Sirona has announced the appointment of Donald Casey Jr as its new chief executive officer (CEO), effective as of February 12th 2018.

Mr Casey brings more than 30 years of global healthcare experience to the role, having most recently served as CEO of the medical segment of Cardinal Health, helping to reposition the segment and deliver consistent revenue and operating income growth.

He is also the former CEO of the Gary and Mary West Wireless Health Institute, and previously served as worldwide chairman of Johnson and Johnson's comprehensive care group.

When he joins Dentsply Sirona, Mr Casey will succeed Mark Thierer, who has served as interim CEO of the company since the departure of Jeffrey Slovin last September. Mr Thierer will continue in his role until February 11th and will work closely with Mr Casey to ensure a seamless transition.

Eric Brandt, non-executive chairman of the board of Dentsply Sirona, said: "After a comprehensive search and careful consideration, our board unanimously concluded that Don has the right mix of skills, experience and talent to lead Dentsply Sirona to achieve its full potential."
