Dentsply Sirona produces 50,000th Orthophos and Heliodent Plus units

Dentsply Sirona has passed a key manufacturing milestone with Orthophos and Heliodent Plus, two of its most successful imaging systems.

The company produced its 50,000th Orthophos unit at its manufacturing facility in Bensheim in December 2017, followed by its 50,000th Heliodent Plus system in early January 2018.

Orthophos has received several awards for image quality and design since its launch in 2004, with the system used by dentists to produce top-quality images in 2D and 3D at a low radiation dose. The latest model, Orthophos SL, launched in 2015.

Heliodent Plus, meanwhile, is part of an product legacy that stretches back to the works of Siemens-Reiniger-Werke in 1934. The Heliodent name was created in 1955, with the basic principle of the tube assembly remaining almost unchanged up to the present day.

Dr Stefan Hehn, vice-president for imaging systems at Dentsply Sirona, said: "We are pleased that we can continue to live up to our responsibility as the market leader and we are proud that our systems help dentists around the world make more reliable diagnoses."
