Dentsply Sirona study shows dental patients prefer single-visit treatments
Dentsply Sirona has highlighted the findings of a new study showing how dental patients receiving restorations generally prefer to receive their whole treatment in a single visit.
The company conducted a survey of more than 3,700 patients from six countries – Germany, Brazil, France, Italy, Japan and China – showing that 80 percent of patients consider it important to receive restorations in one visit.
Two-thirds of those polled said they would be prepared to travel further and switch to a different dental practice in order to benefit from single-visit dentistry, while the majority also indicated a willingness to pay more for treatment.
Dentsply Sirona noted that its CEREC product line is ideally placed to meet these needs, as patients treated this way only need one injection of anaesthetic and can benefit from comfortable digital impressions, before receiving the final restoration in one appointment without any need for a temporary prosthesis.
Roddy MacLeod, group vice-president for CAD/CAM at Dentsply Sirona, said: "The research shows single-visit dentistry is an emerging expectation amongst patients today. Patients expect to be treated with the latest technology and CEREC is leading that trend."
