DJO Global to purchase Dr Comfort diabetic footwear company

16th March 2011

DJO Global has announced a new deal that will see it acquire Dr Comfort, a provider of therapeutic footwear for the diabetes care market.

One of DJO's indirect subsidiaries has signed a definitive agreement worth $254.6 million (158.07 million pounds) to purchase the Wisconsin-based business, with the deal set to close within 35 to 40 days.

The transaction will give the company access to a portfolio of diabetic footwear and related medical and comfort products that cater to the needs of a rapidly growing market.

DJO Global expects it will be able to expand the reach of Dr Comfort's products, which are currently sold primarily in the US, to the wider international market.

Les Cross, president and chief executive officer of the company, said: "Dr Comfort has achieved very strong growth and the market-leading position in diabetic footwear in the eight years it has been in business."

The firm has been operating under the DJO Global brand since changing its name from DJO Incorporated last month, reflecting the completion of a long-running business integration process.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800464916-ADNFCR
