DoH publishes reports to improve healthcare

The Department of Health (DoH) has published two reports outlining how it is going to try and improve regulation and governance of those working in healthcare.

Both documents ? Tackling Concerns Nationally and Tackling Concerns Locally ? aim to raise professional standards and ensure patient safety.

Health Minister Ben Bradshaw explained the two statements outline recommendations to identify and address concerns about professional coduct.

“These reports go a long way to further ensure healthcare standards in the NHS are high and to reassure both public and professionals that the systems and processes put the safety of patients at their heart, while being fair to staff,” he commented.

Mr Bradshaw concluded the DoH’s main concern is to make sure that the public and those using the NHS are protected.

Last month, the government department urged people to check they have a valid and up-to-date European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) before they go travelling.

It asserted there may be up to three million people with expired documents by the end of March.
