Dr Foster Intelligence publishes patient experience report

21st September 2010

Dr Foster Intelligence has supported the publication of a new report which highlights the role patient experience plays in affecting healthcare management decisions.

The Intelligent Board 2010: Patient Experience report is the latest in a series of Intelligent Board studies from Dr Foster and highlights failings in the way patient experience is currently incorporated in NHS organisation.

It shows that a minority of boards and non-executive directors currently feel informed about the perception of their services among patients, with many stating they feel it should be discussed in more depth.

The drafting of the report was led by Dr Jocelyn Cornwell, director of the point of care programme at The Kings Fund, who said patient experience is becoming an increasingly important measure of care quality.

She explained the Dr Foster report will offer boards "a simple and effective set of questions, tools and first-hand experiences to help them address the key issues of patient experience in their trust".

Earlier this year, the organisation was awarded the Best of Show prize in the Consumer/Patients category at the IPA Best of Health Awards 2010, for a media campaign conducted on behalf of NHS Sutton and Merton Urgent Care Services.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800074593-ADNFCR
