Dr Reddy’s Laboratories marks passing of founder

18th March 2013

Dr Reddy's Laboratories has paid tribute to its founder and chairman Dr K Anji Reddy, who passed away in Hyderabad last week after a period of illness.

The pioneering industry veteran founded the company that bears his name in 1984, helping it to become the first pharmaceutical company of India to initiate basic drug discovery research in 1993.

He helped develop the business into an organisation with global reach, a network of more than 16,000 worldwide associates and a total of 18 manufacturing facilities, including a UK site located in Cambridge.

In addition to this, he spent much of the last decade spearheading philanthropic projects and public health initiatives such as the Naandi Foundation, India's largest rural safe drinking water provider.

Dr Satish Reddy, chief operating officer of Dr Reddy's Laboratories and son of the late company founder, said: "A nation is grateful to a man who paved a way for the delivery of affordable medicines to the masses and made us believe and take pride in innovation as a means to prosperity."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801558220-ADNFCR
