Dr Reddy’s launches EpiCeram skin barrier solution

Dr Reddy’s wholly-owned subsidiary Promius Pharma is launching a new skin barrier cream called EpiCeram Emulsion.

EpiCeram is a treatment for atopic dermatitis ? a skin disease affecting over 15 million people in the US ? and is Promius Pharma’s first dermatology prescription product on the market.

It provides a 3:1:1 ratio of ceramides, cholesterol and free fatty acids which assists in the repair of damaged skin barrier and helps the symptoms and signs of the skin condition.

Executive vice president of Promius Pharma Jeffrey Wasserstein commented: “EpiCeram Emulsion is our first commercialised product and it aligns with our core strategy of striving to meet unmet medical needs.”

He added the product may potentially “change how doctors treat mild to moderate atopic dermatitis”.

Dr Reddy’s estimated the atopic dermatitis market size at $400 million (231 million pounds).

The company also produces generic drugs at affordable prices. It is among the top five generics manufacturers in Germany.
