DSM nutrient shows health benefits in new study

22nd December 2009

DSM has published results from a study of its nutrient product resVida trans-resveratrol which it claims demonstrated its health-promoting benefits.

The chemical company has conducted a double-blind placebo-controlled trial involving a number of human patients which found that its product showed a number of benefits in the enhancement of cardiovascular health.

DSM believes this trial is a significant achievement for the antioxidant-based additive, which is designed to emulate the effect of calorie restriction through its main ingredient resveratrol.

It is also designed to do so while having limited or no effect on the taste or appearance of food and beverages in which it is used.

The chemicals firm said: “The cardiovascular health benefits of resVida shown by these data are among the first to exhibit health benefits in humans by any trans-resveratrol dietary ingredient.”

Earlier this week, DSM launched CaroCare Natural Carotene ten per cent CWS Star – a beta carotene-based nutritional formulation product.
