Dwight reports net sales growth

5th August 2011

Church & Dwight (C&D) saw its net sales increase by 5.3 percent year on year in the second quarter.

During the three months to July 1st 2011, the company generated earnings of $674.9 million (412.7 million pounds), while "solid" volume growth of 3.3 percent saw its organic sales rise by the same amount.

Organic trading climbed by 2.1 percent, driven largely by the strong performance of Arm & Hammer Liquid and Powder Laundry Detergents and Cat Litter, XTRA Liquid Laundry Detergent and Nair depilatories.

These products helped to offset a drop in sales of Trojan Condoms, Oxiclean laundry additive and value toothpastes.

Thanks to its rise in earnings, the company was able to declare a regular quarterly dividend of $0.17 per share, representing the 442nd of these payments it has made to investors.

James R Craigie, chairman and chief executive officer at C&D, said: "We are pleased with our solid second-quarter business results in what continues to be a difficult economic environment."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800691297-ADNFCR
