Edelman appoints managing director of UK healthcare team

Edelman has announced the appointment of Kate Hawker as the new managing director of its UK healthcare team.

Ms Hawker is the former healthcare chair of Burson-Marsteller, where she was credited with tripling the size of its healthcare business, while leading a successful team and running significant global assignments.

She offers more than 25 years of experience working with biopharmaceutical companies across a variety of therapeutic areas, including clients such as AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline, Novartis and Colgate.

In her new role at Edelman, she has been tasked with ensuring further integration of its digital and creative capabilities – including the award-winning creative offering of the Edelman Deportivo UK business – to help advance client ambitions in the healthcare space.

Matt Hurst, Edelman UK's chief operating officer, said: "Kate's ability to develop and execute effective campaigns creatively within regulatory and legal frameworks is impressive. Her skills and leadership experience will be very valuable to our clients as we continue to provide senior counsel and build integrated programmes."

This comes after the firm's healthcare team was ranked first in PRWeek’s top 150 UK PR consultancies in the sector earlier this month.
