Edelman appoints new global chair for tech business

Edelman has announced the appointment of Maria Amundson as the new global chair of its technology business as part of efforts to strengthen the leadership of the business.

Ms Amundson, who is currently general manager of Edelman's Silicon Valley office, will take up her new role on September 15th 2014, leading the agency's worldwide team of 440 technology communications experts in 23 countries.

She will be responsible for client counsel, portfolio management, new business development and sector marketing, leveraging her experience of working with clients such as Adobe Systems, Samsung and Juniper Networks.

Additionally, Jonathan Hargreaves – currently Edelman's head of technology for Europe – has been appointed global technology vice-chair, reporting directly to Ms Amundson.

This follows the appointment of Justin Westcott as managing director of its UK technology practice earlier this year.
